Just A Mean Green Mother From Outer Space (Clay Model Design)

Just for fun, I decided to create a 3D Model of Audrey 2 from 'Little Shop Of Horrors', which inspired my Stop Motion horror called 'Weeds' not too long ago.
I decided as a New Years Resolution, I'm going to make more 3D models after I realised: I want to work at claymation/stop motion companies- especially somewhere like Aardman. Since I finished my dissertation last semester in 2021, I realised stop motion is what intrigues me most and is one of the whole reasons why I started learning Animation to begin with! So although a little late, I decided I'm going to work hard to get a job as a model designer and concept artist and will be starting immediately. This was a mini project I set for myself to prove to myself and my lecturer that I'm passionate for the subject and invested as this took two weeks to do! Day and night!

This is my third clay model and I'm pretty proud of how it came out with what products I had lying around. The tin can is a tomato soup can, filled with foil and tape to keep the structure up. The entire model is made of wire, clay, tin foil and masking tape. It's painted in acrylic paint, detailed with a sharpie/paint pen, and as mentioned, the lips are shiny with nail varnish. A lot of hot glue was also used to make ridges on the leaves and mouth, I bought the fake ferns from Wilkos.

This was a great model to make as a learnt a lot from trails and errors and was able to reconnect with clay and remind myself that... yes, this is what I want to do! I will still be doing my digital concept pieces as that's also a job I'm interested in but just be aware you will be seeing more 3D and clay from me!
